Inspired by the works of gifted speakers such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Maya Angelou, and Shirley Chisholm, Dr. Katherine Morrison has dedicated her career to providing education about innovative methods that women who have experienced setbacks in their lives can use in order to reach their fullest potential.

In addition, Dr. Morrison received her doctorate in Public Health from the Norman J. Arnold School of Public Health, University of South Carolina. As a public health researcher, Morrison has explored different ways of preventing violence against women. She specializes in trying to understand the unique experiences of African-American women who are the victims of intimate partner violence. Morrison also has interests in sexual violence within communities of color, cultural sensitivity and competency among service organizations, the influence of legal processes on women of color, community health-education, and human rights as it relates to issues surrounding social justice.

She has been a teacher, a scholar, and an inspirational speaker to a number of organizations. Morrison is also a sought after speaker on the topic of violence against African-American women. She has been invited to speak to different community and professional groups including Cambridge Women’s Center, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the American Public Health Association, the 2005 Family Research Laboratory Annual Conference, the WCW Lunchtime Seminar Series, the WCW Board of Directors, and the 2004 International Research & Action Conference hosted by WCW.

On August 16th 2008, out of 25,000 contestants, Katherine placed 3rd at the World Championship of Public Speaking with her speech entitled “Baby, Don’t Believe Them”.  Katherine has already established herself as a sought after trainer and keynote speaker in the greater Boston, MA area.  In 2009, Katherine took another step in reaching her fullest potential as an orator by founding a speaking business entitled MOXY: Inspiring Strength and Courage among Women. The mission of MOXY is to enhance the self-efficacy and productivity of women who find themselves laden with a sense of personal inertia and an inability to reach for desired goals.
