Bahby Banks presents at the American Public Health Association's Annual Meeting, selected as a Scholar in the Cyril Houle Engaged Scholars Program
Bahby Banks presented at the American Public Health Association's 136th Annual Meeting held in San Diego. As part of a full session entitled, “Extending the Borders: Creating Context for Introducing HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials to Southeastern Rural Communities”, Bahby and her colleagues reported findings from Project EAST (Education and Access to Services and Testing), a study developed to increase access to HIV clinical trials for rural racial and ethnic minorities. The presentations ranged from HIV disclosure to perceptions of a mobile unit to enroll rural minorities in clinical trials to sociospatial methods to understand HIV risk.
Bahby was also selected as a Scholar in the Cyril Houle Engaged Scholars Program. This program is designed to develop a cadre of future and current faculty members with the understandings and competencies needed to work with community partners in community-based learning and research.
