Jesse Bethke Gomez named "2005 Community Leader of the Year"

Jesse Bethke GomezJesse Bethke Gomez,  Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio (CLUES) President and ELPH Alumnus, was selected as "2005 Community Leader of the Year" by La Prensa de Minnesota.

Jesse played a key leadership role in stewarding two major health assessment reports on Minnesota’s Latino population, which has grown by 188% over the 1990 census. He has contributed to key health reports for Minnesota, the Commissioner of Health's Social Condition on Health and Minnesota'’s Health Disparities Report. In the Fall of 2003, Governor Tim Pawlenty appointed Jesse to an 18 member Healthcare Cost Citizen's Leadership Panel lead by former U.S. Senator David Durenburger. The Citizen's Leadership Panel is charged with identifying solutions to reduce the growing cost of healthcare facing Minnesota.

According to the CLUES website, "Mr. Bethke Gomez has been President of CLUES for 10 years working tirelessly on issues such as healthcare access for Minnesota’s Latino community, providing support services for people overcoming barriers while transitioning from welfare to work, advancing wealth creation for diverse communities and promoting civic engagement as a means for advancing civility and the capacity of people to care for one another."
